Overview

The upgrade menu is really two menus sharing one screen. Cash purchases move your run forward: rolls, hires, and the gates that stand between you and a rebirth. Gold purchases move your account forward: Fishing Speed, Catch Luck, Mutation Luck and Roll Luck, permanently. Set that split correctly from your first session.

Cash Buys:Rolls, hires, rebirth gates
Gold Buys:Fishing Speed, Catch Luck, Mutation Luck, Roll Luck
Dock Capacity:Grows as you hire into open slots
Free Funding:Codes RELEASE, GOLD and UPGRADES
Stage Rule:Fix the bottleneck before the next tier

Walk the Menu With the Footage

The featured run opens the upgrade menu more than once, which is exactly how to study it: pause on each stat, read what the label claims it changes, and watch which purchase moves the screen afterwards. Treat the video as a map and confirm every price in your own progression.

On the second pass, track the currency, not the button. Cash purchases fund rolls and hires, while Gold purchases land on permanent stats, and footage that ignores this split will teach you the wrong habit. Keep your measured rate beside you while watching.

Two Currencies, Two Jobs

Cash is the currency of motion: it rolls a new fisherman, hires into an open slot, and pays the gates that lead to a rebirth. Gold is the currency of permanence, and it only ever touches the four stat upgrades. Before either empties your pocket, redeem the five active codes so free Cash and Gold fund the opening moves.

The four Gold stats do different jobs. Fishing Speed shortens every cycle your dock already runs, Catch Luck improves what lands in the first place, Mutation Luck raises the odds of a shiny, sparkling or fused catch, and Roll Luck improves the rarity of fishermen you roll. See what mutations add before buying that one.

Dock capacity is the quiet fifth upgrade. Capacity grows as you hire, and each new occupied slot multiplies everything the stats are improving. This is why fills come before tiers: a perfect Fishing Speed stat on a half-empty dock is a faster engine with half its cylinders missing. Fill spaces with every hiring slot you unlock.

Spend Order for the First Sessions

Run the stages in order until one of them stops fitting your dock, then pause there and re-read the board. The order exists because each stage funds the next, and skipping ahead usually means paying Cash for something your rate cannot yet support.

Nothing here is permanent law; it is a default that beats improvising under pressure. Revisit the sequence whenever a code drop, a patch, or a rebirth changes the shape of your account, and let the visible bottleneck, not the loudest button, choose your next purchase. Keep rebirth timing in view while planning.

1

Redeem Before You Spend

Claim all five active codes in the Shop so the free Cash and Gold fund the opening moves.

2

Fill Every Dock Slot

Spend Cash on hires until each unlocked slot holds a working fisherman, because empty space earns nothing.

3

Buy One Speed Tier

Take a single Fishing Speed level with Gold and watch the cycle before buying deeper into it.

4

React to the Real Bottleneck

If catches feel weak, buy Catch Luck next; if rolls disappoint, buy Roll Luck instead of guessing.

5

Hold Gold for Mutation Luck

Mutation odds only pay once base income is stable, so it arrives after speed and catch stats.

Redeem the active codes before stage one, because 5k Cash and 800 Gold change what the opening order can afford.

What Each Purchase Changes

Read across before buying: the same purchase can be right one session and a waste the next, because the bottleneck moved. If nothing here matches what you see, trust the live roll menu instead of this table, then adjust the order.

PurchaseCurrencyWhat It ChangesBuy It When
Fishing SpeedGoldShortens every cycle the dock already runsAlways safe early
Catch LuckGoldImproves the quality of what landsWhen catches feel weak
Mutation LuckGoldRaises odds of shiny, sparkling or fusedAfter base income is stable
Roll LuckGoldImproves the rarity of rolled fishermenWhen hiring for new slots

Rebirth gatesCashUnlocks the next resetWhen the run has clearly slowed
Cash on stats or Gold on run costs splits your budget and slows both tracks at once.

Four Upgrade Traps

Every trap below has cost players a full session of progress, and each one disguises itself as sensible spending. Audit your last five purchases against these cards before buying the next tier, then compare with what you banked overnight.

The common thread is buying for excitement instead of for the visible bottleneck. Money spent correctly is boring: it fixes the slowest link, and then you measure again. Most players skip that measurement, so recheck the rate routine before spending once more.

Wrong Currency

Using Cash on stats or Gold on run costs drains both budgets without advancing either track.

Stats Before Slots

Buying luck while a dock slot sits empty upgrades a production line that is not running.

Mutation Luck Too Early

Trait odds only pay once the base catch is already valuable enough to be worth multiplying.

Rerolling Instead of Hiring

Rolling again while a slot sits open wastes Cash that a guaranteed hire would spend better.

One boring purchase that fixes the bottleneck beats three exciting ones that do not.

When to Break the Order

The stage order is a default, not a rulebook. Certain moments justify jumping ahead, and recognising them is the difference between adapting and drifting. Keep the exceptions honest by measuring each jump with the rate routine and noting what changed.

  • A code drop lands and your Gold reserve suddenly jumps
  • A timed event rewards faster cycles or better catches
  • Your dock just gained a slot that needs filling first
  • A rebirth is close and its Cash gate has become the bottleneck
  • A patch rebalances a stat you had previously written off
FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Cash and Gold upgrades?

Cash funds rolls, hires and rebirth gates inside a single run. Gold funds the four stats the game labels permanent: Fishing Speed, Catch Luck, Mutation Luck and Roll Luck.

Which upgrade should I buy first?

Fill every dock slot with Cash, then take one Fishing Speed tier with Gold. Everything after that follows the visible bottleneck rather than a fixed shopping list.

What does Fishing Speed actually change?

It shortens each cycle your dock already runs, so it pays more with more occupied slots. On a half-empty dock the stat multiplies very little production.

When should I buy Mutation Luck?

After your base income is stable. Mutation odds raise the value of catches you already make, so they add little while your stands are still weak.

Do I need Roll Luck if my dock is full?

Only when you plan to replace someone. Roll Luck improves the rarity of fishermen you roll, which matters when a new slot or a stronger worker is the goal.

How do I earn Gold without paying?

Redeem the GOLD code for 300 Gold and the UPGRADES code for 500 Gold in the Shop, and community reports also credit Mythical-plus sales with Gold.

Should I upgrade before my first rebirth?

Spend Cash on progress only when the gate is close, while Gold stats are the permanent side of the account. Read the rebirth guide before committing either currency.
